Outside a supermarket, a small, skinny almost hairless (except for its ears) dog, leash tied to a bar, waiting.... When a familiar shape came towards it, with a hopeful look it lifted a paw. As it passed, sadly replaced the paw on the pavement.
Not having spent enough in the shop, expected to pay the full parking charge but a kindly till operator, with a smile, reimbursed the full fee.
When toddlers chase pigeons, the birds usually fly off, to shouts of glee. Not here. Pigeons run fast as the toddlers, then faster - and escape!
